Ungothly confession

Why am I writing this at 2:15 AM? Because I need to take my mind off it.

I get scared too easily. The Doctor Who episode of the shadows that come alive and kill you? I still have to remind myself that its the future and they are native to another planet its a TV show. More recently, a little tale I decided to read. At night. When no one else is awake. The book is called "Gothic!" and it has short stories by various authors. I read the first one, a story about some dead people and a ghost asking his brother to deliver a letter. Rather simple, not very scary. The second one was about a haunted hay ride at a farm where a serial killer buried the bodies, and the ghost of the killer killing the main character. I can take vampires slaughtering a room of people, I can take the Daleks zapping every human, but what I can't take is anything realistic. As in, something that actually happens. And then, add a ghost that appears when its dark, and I'm afraid to turn my lights off.

I'm going to distract myself now.

Pfft. There's this friggin' kids book called The Unseen by Zilpha Keatley Snyder...I can't even imagine reading it again to this day. I don't even completely remember it well enough to tell you what happened and all I can say is it's still haunted me.

...Still haunted me...

I know what you mean about the shadows episode of Dr. Who...when I saw that one I had to sleep with my (main) light on for the entire night...The Weeping Angles haunt me to this day *shudder*

Realisticness scares me as well.Every night before I fall asleep I have to hold my breath, to check if they're's someone hiding under my bed (I would hear them breathing). I remember one night I was sharing with my sister, but I forgot, I held my breath and I heard her breathing...I swear, I couldn't breath until I found my lightswitch, I was convinced there was a murderer in my room.

I couldn't sleep the other day after reading Agatha Christie...
It isn't even scary but I thought someone was going to come and kill me.

I've read that book! And I think that most of the stories were bearable, although I thought I saw something stir in my closet after reading the particular creepy one o_o

I read "Gothic!" in eighth grade. My teacher had it in her classroom library. I rather enjoyed it. I don't get easily scared by books, movies yes, not books. I'm still disturbed by the fact that I've had some of the most disturbing nightmares about Chucky, but I've never seen any of the Child's Play movies.

@Aisling those angel ones were creepy! But they were some of my favorite episodes (One has a totally new way of an episode and one has River)

@Tenebris Which was one that?
